Because it’s the first day of the solar cycle, a whole bunch of communities celebrate today . Truly a multicultural holiday.

Celebrations have been restricted in all SE Asian countries and in Myanmar they poured red paint on the streets. This being the year of the Ox (Chinese astrology, started February ) it’s a time for work, not play. Like furthering the cause of democracy and recognizing the human/nature imbalance.

Do Buddhists in Sri Lanka also chant the Namo Tassa and Saranam words for the celebration, in front of a particular deity image (s), when doing the devotional pray or worship?
