From 1:28:28 to 1:31:23, Ven. @sujato remarks that, “The first secular Buddhist was the Buddha… [T]he distinction between secular and religious is silly… [T]he whole notion of secular Buddhism is racist to its core.” I think comments like this expand and deepen the contextual understanding of why Bhante changed his translation of sakkāya-diṭṭhi from “identity-view” to “substantial reality.”
