Anki Deck for Pāli Studies

Similar to the memorization deck above, I made one for Dhammapada in the last month or so with lots of help from Gemini.

So far I have 9 translations, 8 for the English, 1 for Chinese: Ā. Ṭhānissaro, Ā. Sujato, Ā. Ānandajoti, Ā. Suddhāso, Ā. Buddharakkhita, Ā. Nārada Mahāthera, Ā. Weragoda Sarada Mahāthera, and Peter Feldmeier.

The English side of the card would have a drop down menu containing the translator’s names and when you switch, the different translations appears, and there’s a button below which when clicked, expands to show word by word breakdown of the Pāli, all the translations and the full commentary story involved with the verse (translated by Ā. Ānandajoti).

For AI help, I asked it to give me python code that allows me to run locally extracting texts to put into csv into Anki, so that I can be sure that there’s no hallucinations in the output. And now using Anki Connect, I directly edit the cards using python script and it can extract texts from csv into it easily.

There’s also picture and summaries of the stories included.

Ongoing work as I go through it, is to put in the alternative versions if the audio is different from the current texts. Not all audio is done yet.

Any other translators you would recommend, or wish to be included? Please give me an easy to extract source. Not some obscure paper only version. Or if you can extract it already into csv format of verse number on one coloumn and the translation on the second coloumn it would be ideal.

Sample picture:
Pali-english side, the front is only pali verse, the backside is everything under it. Buttons toggle if you want to read the full story or compare translations easily.
