I listened to this just now. I disagree that AI reading things online counts as stealing. A human can read books, artwork done by other humans and output their work and it is not stealing. So too AI is just super in manner.
In a sense, not using AI would be the new not using internet, there would be much disadvantage in the worldly sense. In the dhammic sense maybe also a bit disadvantages. Like I used AI to help create a Anki deck for memorization. And it got merged here into this topic instead of being more visible. This is losing out of the advantages AI can bring. And I took steps to avoid the downsides of AI hallucination, I asked it to give me dumb codes which I run myself locally.
Just today I got the message from my teacher thanking me for putting Vinaya and all commentaries into notebookLM that it makes it easy for him to look up on sima hall and all the citations. AI like any tool can be used for good or ill and the downsides are being managed and carefully edited out, not participating in it makes even monastic life a bit more time consuming. At least on the relatively mundane part of learning, vinaya, memorizing, etc.
