Sigh, Venerable @Sunyo wrote a whole essay in 2021 with a major focus on MN 49. If I search ‘baka’ on this forum it is the first thing I see. Venerable @sujato also wrote about it here. Venerable @Sunyo has given another recent quote about his understanding of this passage here.
I think everyone stipulates that you have a different view of this sutta than Venerable @Sunyo and @sujato and others, but it just isn’t true that others have not stated clearly why they think you are wrong to rely upon this sutta so much. I know you disagree. And they disagree. But what is the point of repeating the same points over and over? Who or what benefits from this?
