Archaeology and history volunteer to Vipassana research institute, India

Dear Old Vipassana Student,

Vipassana Research Institute (VRI) is in the process of creating a team of volunteer Vipassana Meditators for Scholoarship Plan in the filed of Archaeology & History

These volunteers, on behalf of VRI will undertake deeper academic as well as research activities on the subject of Archaeological Findings directly related to Buddha and his times, Sangha led-directly by Buddha, Emperor Asoka, Buddha-relics, Buddha Gaya and history of Sangha since the time of Buddha

Study Material: Old Journals connected with early and later Archaeology, especially in Indian Subcontinent, Traveler Accounts, Tipitaka, Asokan Edicts, Field Visits, Guruji’s own accounts in News Letters, Personal Letters

Mode: Self-study, Workshops with known Archaeologists and Historians, Periodic Presentations, Group Discussions, Paper Submissions
Study Period: Upto 5 years •
Output: Upto 6 Publications every year, lectures
Number of Scholars: Upto 4 in each area

Prerequisite: Volunteer should have completed at-least Three 10-day Vipassana courses and one Satipatthana course

Thanks for posting that here, it’s a really interesting project. Do keep us updated.

It seems that it may somewhat overlap @StefanK 's work, he is looking to compile all the inscriptions in “epigraphic Pali”, many of which are scattered through journals.

Thank you very much bhante for your reply. I have posted this so that if anyone interested in this field maybe benefited by Dhamma service, although I don’t have any knowledge of this subject. VRI, India is gearing up for the deeper research.
