Automated Textual Collation of Suttas with CollateX - Chart

Hi there,

I just finished a notebook that explore the connexion/parallels within a set of suttas. These charts were inspired by @knotty36 ! You can make some yourself by inputting the suttas IDs you want in this notebook :

Input the sutta IDs and wait for the chart to generate (a few seconds). Here are a few examples:

This is based on these references:

Note: This was possible to make in about one day with claude.ai and other AIs. The Python API was the hard part to set up.

Enjoy !

I’d be curious to hear what using this analysis has shown you. It’s an interesting presentation.

Dear @Snowbird,

This visualisation is handy to understand and see suttas that have a lot of common parts in one shot, like in the SN or AN. I am not an expert, but @knotty36 has a project to investigate the relationship in the Dukkha Vagga SN12.51+ between the suttas and after some exchange we came up with that kind of visualisation to represent the variations of the suttas around a common core. Maybe he can talk more about it if he has some time.

For me, it is mostly another nice visualisation of relationship. I was always fascinated by subway map aesthetics…
