I have been told that Buddhist lineages died out in some countries then monastics needed to come from Sri Lanka to re start Buddhism in those countries.

In the talk the monastic says Sri Lanka got monastics from other countries in order to re start.

Can anyone help in me understanding? Especially if they have reference to the documents which provide evidence.

I have not missed many talks from venerables Kovilo, Nissabo. I dont recall a talk quite like this one! Sahdu!

On 16 August 2019, the Amarapura and Rāmañña Nikāya were unified as the Amarapura–Rāmañña Nikāya, making it the largest Buddhist fraternity in Sri Lanka.

An aside: My understanding is that this hasn’t really resulted in any meaningful unification. The two nikāyas have remained independent of each other, despite this agreement.
