Buddha Kassapa year?

Best of luck tracking down that date…not sure we are even that certain about the current Buddha, let alone the one before that

One thing I’ve always wondered about past lives is the validity of the assumption that past lives are serial, linear and singular. E.g… is there really a true “my fourth life ago”?. I would be shocked if all the previous Buddha’s this Kalpa were all on Planet Earth and there have been no other Buddha’s anywhere else. Seems incredibly anthropocentric and unlikely to me. Discussions about this in the texts (Buddha Kassapa living in Benares etc) are likely just because there was no other way for the Buddha Gotama to discuss other than to say Buddha Kassapa lived in the equivalent of Benares from the perspective of those listening. How else could he have described a different planet, different species and different time to the audience back then???
