Can't download single copies of the Discourses

I can no longer download single copies of the Discourses. All I get is a 404 from GitHub. I can download the zip file, but that just makes a mess on my Android with duplicates of every format. Thanks for any help. :pray:

Thank you for the report!

It’s helpful if you can give specifics like which book in which format.

@HongDa and Bhante @sujato, It feels like we really need a stable fix for this issue. Is there not automatic test done when books are regenerated?

Every book in every format on your editions page. The exception, as I said, is the zip file.

This problem is recent. Not too long ago I downloaded the epub version of the Long Discourses just fine, but today I tried downloading the Dhammapada with no luck.

Ohh, sorry, I haven’t updated the front end in time these two days because I was testing the generation of new publications.

I just updated the front end, please reload or refresh SC. :pray:

hmm, Bhante, I have modified the frontend loading strategy before. now when we access SC, the latest js will be loaded. This time it was caused by my failure to update it in time. I’ll watch for the next update.

Thanks! The Dhammapada epub version downloaded fine. The PDF version downloads as a zip file. Is this necessary? It’s the only file in the zip.

ETA The PDF extracts to some obscure area which I can’t find on my Android.

Yeah, PDFs shouldn’t be zipped. That seems off.

I don’t really need the PDF right now, but it’s a problem on Android. I think it’ll be fine on my laptop.

Also, the main zip file extracted duplicates of the epubs and probably does for all the other formats, but I couldn’t tell for sure.

Just to clarify, when I download the PDF version of the Dhammapada, the zip file extracts correctly into my browser download section. The main zip file with all the books and formats can be seen through my browser too, but once extracted all the files are only visible through my file manager.

I believe that’s done because the longer collections (AN, SN) are split into multiple volumes.

Yes :grinning: , since there may be multiple PDF files, they will be compressed into a zip file.

Surely the software knows how many volumes there are and can opt to not zip when there’s only one?

Yes, this works, some collections just a single file.
