So craving for a particular world view, leads to wishful thinking, which is a belief. As others might crave for different world views, we have religions and conflicts. Debates ensue, and the listeners are left in doubt (one of the five hindrances).
Though doubt is also a necessary first step in detaching from beliefs.
True - but doubt about the Tatagatha was one of the best debates at the time of the Buddha. This was really the same as whether a Self exists or not. When that is penetrated there is no more philosophical doubt.
