DN 33 Pali Problem

Dear Bhante & Ayya,

Pañca nīvaraṇāni—kāmacchandanīvaraṇaṃ, "byāpādanīvaraṇaṃ", thinamiddhanīvaraṇaṃ, uddhaccakukkuccanīvaraṇaṃ, vicikicchānīvaraṇaṃ

byāpādanīvaraṇaṃ”, i thought it supposed to be “vyāpādanīvaraṇaṃ”.
The English and Bahasa Translation have been using “vyāpāda” instead of “byāpāda”

Please tell me if i’m wrong.

With Metta

These are common alternative spellings. The Burmese manuscripts, including the text on SC, tend to prefer the initial bya-.

Incidentally, if you search for these on SC, our search engine is clever enough to give you results for byapada when you search for vyapada.

Thank You Very Much Bhante
