Downloadable Footnotes in SN Linked Discourse

Hello. I would like to ask whether there is a way I can download a full SN Linked Discourse footnotes.

I am self-studying and always find notes is very helpful to understand. In MN, I can check footnote on Epub version. But SN, the note links are disconnected.

Thanks,
Lux

Welcome to the forum!

If you just want the data, you can download the folder that holds it from the github repository using a third party downloader, e.g.

https://download-directory.github.io/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fsuttacentral%2Fbilara-data%2Ftree%2Fpublished%2Fcomment%2Fen%2Fsujato%2Fsutta%2Fsn

But that probably isn’t going to be very helpful to you.

Someone recently created a website called suttacentral.express. If you scroll to the bottom you will see a link for offline apps. I’ve never used them, but in theory they would give you relatively recent data in the form of the suttas/web pages themselves. I believe the author of that site updates things from time to time, and the SN notes are still being added.

I believe that’s because they’re not yet complete, see:

This can probably be merged with that thread?

Well, they are asking for a way to get them off line, not why they aren’t in the epub. So it’s different from that thread.

Hey thanks for the interest.

The SN footnotes are a work in progress. I took a bit of a break over Xmas, but am starting up again now. I just began the work on SN 45, and I expect to finish the entire SN by say mid year. Only then will I revise all the notes and publish them in the epubs, etc. Meanwhile, the updated notes are available on the web, where I publish them samyutta by samyutta.

My respect to Ven. Sujato and gratitude to all the responses.

Since I dont have internet at my center, I now go to connected place and go through enough SN suttas for about a week study and would get back and re-visit the pages.

To get to understand the meanings, as I’m a Cambodian in Cambodia and deeply grateful for this modern translation, I study by comparing with Khmer Pali language translation and sometimes cross check with Myanmar English translation.

I finished Sutta Central MN and going through the Buddha’s teaching nearly every day through such clear translation does help my meditation practice and progress.

May all beings understand the Dhamma
