We’ve just deployed our new search engine, elasticsearch, to the main site. http://www.elasticsearch.org/
This change is a long time coming. Our first search engine was a custom built set of PHP inquiries. We replaced that with search based on the SQLite search. Now we’ve introduced the latest, and most powerful, of open source search engines.
This brings a number of features, some of which you can see already, and more will be developed over time.
- Indexes the entire text corpus and allows native natural language searching in multiple languages.
- Also searches dictionaries and the text details, and allows you to filter these.
- The dictionary search in pali suggests related words to help you find what you’re looking for.
We’ll be tweaking and evolving the interface and results, so please give us your feedback.
