English-Pali side by side?

On the top of my wish list for SC (for the Nikayas): an option for displaying English (Bhikkhu Bodhi’s translation when avaiable) and Pali side by side on one page. Any possibility? Of course I know it can’t be done to match exactly, but it would make it so much easier to refer back & forth (especially for those of us not yet able to read everything completely in Pali).

This will be available with the new translations, where we are able to match the text and translation segment by segment.

As a general design principle, I think it’s a bad idea to duplicate in a website functions that are easily available in any computer. Just use two windows side by side.

Great, I look forward to that. Thanks.

It’s still not really the same, not as easy to navigate, especialy on a small computer screen. Also I like to be able to print a sutta out out to study (and carry around) without a computer and without the heavy print editions. Shifting between two copies (one in English, and one in Pali) is not as easy to use (nor as good for Pali study as having both on one sheet, or one screen window, would be)

Sorry!

Nevertheless, I so appreciate SC  Looking forward to your translations, hope the project is going well.

@Linda The website http://www.buddha-vacana.org has this feature where you can have side by side. E.g. http://www.buddha-vacana.org/sutta/samyutta/salayatana/sn36-006.html. Sometimes there are places Pali hapeses has been retained in the translation when there is not direct easy rendering but they appear as links which you can click for more information. e.g. http://www.buddha-vacana.org/sutta/digha/dn22.html

Hi Sirinath,
Thanks so much for this! Very interesting and helpful for Pali studies. I had come across this quite some time ago but then could not find the link again, so I really appreciate your reply!
