Gratitude for the Triple Gem

I would like to express my immense gratitude toward the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Saṅgha. I am grateful to be reborn as a human in this amazing time: where we not only have a Buddha whose teachings we can draw from, but we have free and accessible access to the Dhamma in many languages across the world.

I was raised a Protestant Christian for the first 13 years of my life before I decided to leave the Church and became an atheist. I was an atheist for a couple of years before almost stumbling across (Theravāda) Buddhism. I seemed to realize the Dhamma had at least some truth to it, and essentially thrust myself straight into it. Now, a year later, I essentially believe all the teachings have to offer. So the Dhamma has always seemed to me like a spontaneous gift, the greatest gift that could be given.

Whether you were raised Buddhist looking for a deeper connection to your religion, someone that just comes along for meditation, or someone like me that threw themselves headfirst into this beautiful religion, If you’re here on SuttaCentral spending your time reading these forum posts, you at least know the truth of the Dhamma at some level. Don’t deny it to yourself. The Buddha was right all along in everything he taught.

I feel that we are indeed living in a period of re-fl owering of the Pariyatti Dhamma. Personally for me when I look back on the last few years I feel immensely grateful to creators of all the online Dhamma platforms. I feel very fortunate to be able to directly read the words spoken by the Buddha in English as well as Pali. I find that reading a sutta repeatedly over a few years helps one to recall the Buddha’s advice and reflect wisely and correctly even during a difficult situation. Just like you said during these moment one realises that what the Buddha said is true.
