Help Building LaTeX editions of translations

Not sure if this is the right category, but I am wanting to build the LaTex editions of the translation. My local library has a service where they can print books on demand and I’d like to print a copy of the latest edition. The main issue with the PDFs that are available is that I need separate PDFs for the pages and book cover.

Thanks!

Hi, great project.

These are included if you download the whole set, which you can do from here. Look inside the “paperback” folder and you’ll find both pages and covers.

If you really want to build your own versions you can, but you’ll have to bring your own fonts, as our fonts are under license. So you’ll have to change the font definitions in the LaTeX files.

Thanks for letting me know where those are located. I’ll probably just use those for printing a copy locally.

For building the LaTeX what are the relevant Sanskrit diacriticals that I need to look for? I was thinking of using the Inter fontface family. When I’ve tried a bare-bones LaTex build of some sutta translations, the most surprising issue I found was that caused a vbox error but didn’t.

Note, however, that we use a bespoke version of the font that we had customized for this project to include the relevant Sanskrit diacriticals. So you can’t use regular Arno.

It looks like the LaTeX recommends Gentium Plus if Arno pro isn’t available. After looking at the font it seems to be a better fit and what I’ll use when building.

Yeah, that’s what I use over at OBU now. Beautiful, readable and has all the characters you’d need

Yes, Gentium is a good choice.
