How are Bhikkhuni monasteries doing in SE Asia in 2026?

While things in Sri Lanka aren’t in full on economic collapse, it’s clear that folks are having to make decisions to conserve resources. It got me wondering how things were going for the Bhikkhuni/nuns’ monasteries in the country and elsewhere in SE Asia.

Anyone have a report they would like to share?

I’d also like to encourage anyone who has supported these monasteries in the past to continue to do so, especially under the current economic conditions.

On the Bhikkhuni Alliance website people can find specific Bhikkhuni projects in Sri Lanka (and the rest of the world) which they can support: https://bhikkhuni.net/projects-2/project-requests-support/
