I’m reading Paul Demiéville’s “Philosophy and Religion from Han to Sui” in The Cambridge History of China.
Is anyone familiar with his essay and, in particular, its reliability regarding the history of the introduction of Buddhism into China, including the first sutra/sutta translators?
Because the book is a classic – and it’s freely available on the internet archive site – I’m hoping the essay is relatively on target.
