That is substituted for a complete retelling of the first section.
The reason you may be seeing a large blank gap is because of a quirk of the page encoding. If you type a v it will toggle the Pali and you can see it fill in the gap.

Yeah, normally I’m not in favor of adding special markup when the translator adds necessary text to a translation, but in this case it really does obscure the fact that the sutta is twice as long as it appears.
Usually that kind of added text is put in gray on SC (as a substitute for [square brackets]). Is it in gray there? I can’t tell 
No, it’s not. But I don’t think that Bhante Sujato uses that convention. It’s not required in the SC style guide as far as I know. Mostly it is used by legacy texts.
