I’ve been following the story.
I saw a video in the news of the Japanese official responsible for the decision. A reporter challenged him to drink recycled Fukishima water. He did, but the look on his face was worth a million dollars. He looked frightened.
One of the reasons I am against nuclear power is that a human error and negligence will always be a danger to everyone. Rand McNally advised Japan not to locate that reactor where they did. My stereotype is that Japan as a culture has a much stronger sense of social responsibility than American culture does. If Japan can do that, I can only expect more devastating mismanagement of American nuclear power plants.
