Hello

My name is Yaron. I’m new to this Web site. I have been reading Pali on my own for over 20 years. Can I join the reading group? If yes, do I need to preregister?
I graduated university in the late 90s where my major was Indian Studies with much Sanskrit, but only one course in Pali in my last year in university.

Thanks

Yaron

Hello Yaron,

You’d be very welcome to join the Pāli reading group, as it seems your past experience with Indic languages would be very valuable to everybody.

I’m away travelling overseas at the moment and our class schedule is quite disrupted at the moment. As you can see above in this thread, I was hoping to conduct another session this coming Sunday/Monday, but at the moment it’s only about 50/50 whether I’ll be able to go ahead with that and I’ll be posting a message to this thread in the next 24 hours or so whether I can go ahead with that.

Meanwhile, please tell me where you are located (time zone).

I look forward to meeting you online in the near future.

Hi

I’m located in Nova Scotia, Canada. That’s in the Atlantic Time Zone.

Thanks

Yaron

@Yandes If you already know Sanskrit well you may wish to read my Sanskrit Translations of Pali suttas and compare them with their Pali versions for a more nuanced understanding of Pali’s grammatical and phonetic peculiarities.
