“I undertake the training rule of refraining from unchastity”. The way the wording is phrased it is easy to misread. Perhaps a better word for unchastity would be carnality or some similar word. To refrain from a negative seems awkward in its translation.
No it’s a double negative:
not not chastity = chastity.
Perhaps easier if you read it more like the Pali:
Unchastity, to refrain from, I undertake.
The second precept also has a double negative…

Dear Savaka,
Unchastity is not a very accurate translation for abrahmācariya. I would instead suggest “sexual activity”, which is much more precise in this connection. So perhaps: “I undertake the training rule of refraining from sexual activity.”
