Yes, absence of defilements means absence of fire and burden. At least that is how i have understood this. But i think, when we seek an absence, or a peace of mind, being at ease, not restless and worried, not anxious, we will see that this does not work this way. Our mind always again becomes restless without our intention. It is like we do not have to do anything to become burdened. And then one sees the need of development.
