Missing part in AN4.41

I was reading Ajahn Bramali’s essay in which he referenced to AN4.41 as follow:

"Katamā ca, bhikkhave, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārāya saṃvattati? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Pītiyā ca virāgā upekkhako ca vihāsiṃ, sato ca sampajāno sukhañca kāyena patisamvedeti; yaṃ taṃ ariyā ācikkhanti— ‘upekkhako satimā sukhavihārī’ti tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sukhassa ca pahānā dukkhassa ca pahānā pubbeva somanassadomanassānaṃ atthaṅgamā adukkhamasukhaṃ upekkhāsatipārisuddhiṃ catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.

E.g. AN4:41.

And this is what I got from Sutta Central:

"Katamā ca, bhikkhave, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭha-dhamma¬su¬kha¬vihārāya saṃvattati? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi … pe … catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.

Notice the missing/ void from " kāmehi … pe … catutthaṃ" . Any reason for this?

The pe in the Pali text stands for peyyala and indicates the omission of text in the Pali itself.

The Venerable Brahmali just filled in the text that is missing.

Thank you so much :anjal:

the scribes got probably so sick and tired of writing out the jhana formulas, which they themselves had learned by heart, that they just went "F… it!"ti and started throwing ellipses in there
