Missing variants for sn45.170 and ~10 more suttas

Hello everyone
sn45.170 differs between vri / ms edition and thai.

but variants are missing on suttacentral.net

Sorry for no formatting. I’m using mobile phone to make this post.

Link to sutta in ms edition, here at least title variant is missing

https://suttacentral.net/sn45.170/en/sujato?lang=en&layout=plain&reference=none&notes=sidenotes&highlight=false&script=latin

(ms) Taṇhāsutta and (Thai) Tasināsutta

And Sn45.171 variant for the mnemo poem is missing

Quote:

Tassuddānaṁ
Esanā vidhā āsavo,
bhavo ca dukkhatā khilā;
Malaṁ nīgho ca vedanā,
dve taṇhā tasināya cāti.

while thai has just 2 Taṇhā suttas. As Sn45.170

And mnemo poem in Sn45.171 looks like:

Quote:

Tassuddānaṁ
esanā vidhā āsavo dukkhatā ca tisso khilā
malaṁ nigho ca vedanā duvena taṇhāyena cāti

this sutta is a template for many other samyuttas

the following line:
Vedanā taṇhā tasinā cāti.

is repeated in
sn45.170
sn46.111-120
sn46.165-174
sn47.85-94
sn48.105-114
sn49.35-44
sn50.35-44
sn50.89-98
sn51.67-76
sn53.35-44

accordingly

so it should have variant or something like that:
malaṁ nigho ca vedanā duvena taṇhāyena cāti

could you please add variants for all missing parts? I rely on suttacentral data but it’s missing in this regard.

Interesting that some manuscript traditions have taṇhā & others have tasinā/tasiṇā - phonetically neither of them can be derived from each other, but both of them are two ways of Pāli-fying the Sanskrit word tṛṣṇā

Hi @srkris oh yes that’s very interesting. I was researching this topic and found out that pretty big portion of data is missing in sc.net data while it it there on dpr and few other sources.

Hope that someone can add missing variants.

Good day bhante @sujato

Hope you’re doing great.

Is there a person who works with variants of Suttacentral.net data?

Or may be there is a dedicated git ticket regarding missing variants?
