NYC area Friends: Looking for a home for 3 boxes of Swift Pair of Messengers

Hello,

What seems like a lifetime ago I printed a run of Ven. Sujato’s A Swift Pair of Messengers and distributed them to various meditation centers in the U.S.

My family and I are moving and need to greatly downsize. I still have 3 boxes (50 books per box). I’m hoping to find a home for them before December 1st. I’m in Brooklyn (Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens area). This would be a pick-up and the boxes are fairly heavy (20 lbs. or so).

Hi Mark,

There are a few NYC area members on the forum, including myself. Unfortunately, I don’t have the space to store 3 boxes worth of books (apt is already overflowing with books).

There are a number of monasteries (Theravada or adjacent) in the area though, they might be interested.

  1. Empty Cloud Monastery (NJ)

  2. New York Buddhist Vihara (Queens)

  3. Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery (Staten Island)

There are many more of Mahayana tradition. You could ask them too.

Hope this helps.

You might also reach out to Wat Metta/Ajahan Thanissaro to see if they have anyone in NYC.

Mahamevnawa doesn’t usually distribute books in that way. They are also tight on space.

Chuang Yen (where Bhante Bodhi lives) does book distribution to prisioners. They have a branch in the Bronx.
