Original Dhamma Poems, composed by forum members

I am not waiting
until the end
to RIP.
Like a leaf
on the ground
soaking in
rain falling
down
on this body.
Dissolving what is
into what was.

Earth Records

History in rocks-
geological and song-lines,
and in small pebble.

And its energy
from turbulent to deep calm
written there as well.

In mudstone pebble,
pointer to past and future
in galactic time.

And in quartz pebble
with potential realised
in a microchip.

Human form and mind
carry Earth history too,
as genes and consciousness.

But future to come
we are imprinting right now.
May we be careful.

The Ripening Beyond the Flowers

Rose-gardens once shone so bright;
Maddening scents flooded the nose;
Then softly faded their delight,
As gentle emptiness drew close.

Gifts

“Gift of Dhamma
excels all gifts.”
The original Dhamma.

No person can give
such supreme gift.
Just point to our Buddha nature.

Light meditation

Candle light went out -

light dispersed
smoke dispersed
heat dispersed
and candle wax cooled.

Emptiness full of potential
beyond existence and non-existence,
beyond birth and death
remained.

On Empty

May she survive a world
that slaughters with its thoughts.
Hitler loved a girl, then ended her later.
So did the sculptor, Rodin.
Lover turned competitor, turned executioner.
The role he assigned to her:
the evil girl, the crazy Witch,
the lunatic daring to ask for sovereignty.
History loops endlessly.
Can she ever really free from the world,
or must she suffer a thousand death?
When will they ever stop their slaughter,
a girl asking for her sovereignty and her dignity?

Empty promises.

RIP Camille Claudel, Geli Raubal.

Your gentleness is a rose.
Māra gave his breath.
Now what is left,
A graveyard.

Beauty of virtue

Virtuous conduct
that is beyond fixed rules.
Bodhicitta way.

Letting go of past
following the Dhamma light
into the unknown.

With faith beyond words
and feeling in one’s heart.
Not blind, but seeing far enough.

Each of us unique
path of the living Dhamma,
no one can copy.

Refuge within us,
no one can destroy or take
that sanctuary.

Together we can
alleviate climate change,
this world beautify.

Even a graveyard
can be made beautiful with
flowers from true love.

Caminando…

Presente, en cada paso

Presente, en cada paso

¿Vaya problema?

¡Pequeño problema!

Solo ideas,

Solo ruido,

Surgen y cesan,

Surgen y cesan,

No matan el silencio, tan solo son sonido

Beyond dualities

Inner silence and words –
aren’t they part of Samsara?
See them arise and cease.

Able to take up
and then to let go at will,
that’s freedom and skill.

Without any words
gone is Sammā Sambuddha’s
sutta-vinaya.

From Your End

Love is not what one receives from the world,
Seen in the face of a person they meet;
It is love what one radiates uncurled,
Even when bandits carve them hand and feet.

The cage of the five aggregates —
No one will pull you out.
Start letting go of stinginess,
And you will find the key to the chains.
But this will be
Only the beginning.
You still have to learn
How to turn it in the lock.

Upon morality
Rests wisdom.
It’s rooted in right views.
In four words — freedom.
I wish for you to hear
The click of the opening door.

May my heart broken
be whole again.
May light come in.
May each mending
be a golden thread.
May all loving come in
and out with each
and every breath.

Reflection on our world news

How can Universe
produce such atrocities
as abuse of children?

I see no purpose,
nothing good in it at all.
Why did it evolve?

Cosmic energy
creates both heavens and hells,
Dhamma is refuge.

Merciful Buddha
pointed out the way of Peace,
our true refuge.

Inner sanctuary
in this vast awesome Cosmos,
beyond name and form.

Like path in a desert
well-known and walked by the wise,
is Dhammapada.
