I would like to learn the Sinhala script through pali chanting. can someone refer me to a video containing word by word or line by line sinhala subtitles so i can follow along? Thank you!
That would be a great thing to have!
I recently discovered that https://tipitaka.lk has lots of line by line Pali chanting. Just hover over the table of contents and look for items that have the play icon:
Unfortunately they don’t have any in Khuddaka Nikaya.
Your other option is to find the chants which you already know and read along in the sinhala script. The common ones are all available in the khuddakapāṭḥa
I did this a few years ago and it was a great way to notice where I was mispronouncing things.
ETA I am assuming you know how to change the pali script under the ‘views’ menu
yes, thank you. I am a bit more simple and was hoping to find syllable by syllable lyrics (like the nursery rhymes that jump from word to word) but I will try this out way out too. I’m unfamiliar with each syllable, but it shall come in time.
Ah, that’s something I have never seen. You are correct that would be ideal for learning the alphabet, but normally people don’t need that for a chanting video.
chatgpt is helpful for this. in the works
You could set up some flash card to learn the alphabet first. Sinhala script is a syllabary anyway, so once you know the basics and vowel mods (more importantly) you can karaoke away!
