Problems with quote button?

Has anyone had issues with the reply and quote button? You highlight some text, then a button should appear, you click it, but nothing happens. I have seen this occasionally for the past month or two, and someone just posted a bug report on meta.discourse. Anyone else?

I haven’t had any problems personally. Could it be a browser issue?

Maybe, or a connection issue. Apparently the code has been recently refactored, so unless anyone reports any problems, we can assume it’s a non-issue.

I’ve had the issue on my android smartphone.

I’ve experienced that problem one or two times (firefox).

Okay, thanks for the feedback. Given that they have recently changed the code, can you keep an eye on it and see if it happens still?

I’ve had the issue on iPhone too… but wasn’t sure if it was just a mobile thing…

Yep.[quote=“Cara, post:7, topic:4061”]

It is unfortunate that we cannot select a quote from an earlier post and drop it in a later comment further down the line - and not just directly in a one-off manoeuvre in the following response. I think this is where I have come undone - ho hum!

No problem on my PC with Windows…

But one thing I noticed is that any formatting such as italic, bold etc is lost when we quote a text, is it normal?

Yes, I think this has always been the case.

You should be able to - as I have just done with your quote now. Is that what you meant? Sometimes it takes a little time for the quote to come up in the text. Other than that, all I can say was my previous problems with the quote button resolved after just waiting a few months :smile:

It seems to work pretty well these days, so I’m suspecting any issues come with a slow connection or an old browser. Might this be the case?

On my android 6.0 smartphone using the chrome browser, I’ve had problems replying to specific users. Instead, my post replies to the topic. Very annoying.

On a post of mine the other day, the box quote didn’t work (though it always did in the past). I am using a mac 10.10.5. Also the e-mojis still did not work (a problem I reported earlier which out of the blue had started happenning). But today I see the e-mojis are once again working… :astonished::smile: Mara just must be playing around lately :smiling_imp: It’s what I get for using an evil mac I guess…
