Je suis ravi d’annoncer la publication complète des traductions françaises du Majjhima Nikāya et du Dīgha Nikāya, réalisées par le Dr. Môhan Wijayaratna.
Le Dr. Wijayaratna est un éminent chercheur en études bouddhiques, reconnu pour ses contributions significatives à la diffusion du bouddhisme Theravāda dans le monde francophone. Né au Sri Lanka, il a consacré sa carrière académique à l’étude et à la traduction des textes bouddhiques anciens, rendant accessibles les enseignements du Bouddha à un public plus large. Parmi ses œuvres notables, on compte des traductions et des études approfondies des textes fondamentaux du canon pāli.
Le Majjhima Nikāya, ou « Recueil des discours moyens », est le deuxième des cinq nikāyas du Sutta Piṭaka. Il comprend 152 discours du Bouddha et de ses principaux disciples, couvrant divers aspects de l’enseignement bouddhique. Le Dīgha Nikāya, ou « Recueil des longs discours », est le premier nikāya et contient 34 discours plus étendus, abordant des sujets philosophiques, éthiques et méditatifs.
Ces traductions offrent une opportunité précieuse aux francophones d’accéder directement aux enseignements originaux du Bouddha.

I am delighted to announce the complete publication of the French translations of the Majjhima Nikāya and Dīgha Nikāya, undertaken by Dr. Môhan Wijayaratna.
Dr. Wijayaratna is a distinguished researcher in Buddhist studies, renowned for his significant contributions to the dissemination of Theravāda Buddhism in the French-speaking world. Born in Sri Lanka, he has dedicated his academic career to the study and translation of early Buddhist texts, making the Buddha’s teachings accessible to a broader audience. Among his notable works are translations and in-depth studies of the fundamental texts of the Pāli Canon.
The Majjhima Nikāya, or “Middle-Length Discourses,” is the second of the five nikāyas in the Sutta Piṭaka. It comprises 152 discourses by the Buddha and his chief disciples, covering various aspects of Buddhist teachings. The Dīgha Nikāya, or “Long Discourses,” is the first nikāya and contains 34 longer discourses addressing philosophical, ethical, and meditative subjects.
These translations provide a valuable opportunity for French speakers to directly access the original teachings of the Buddha.
