I would like to start adding comments to my translations, and in doing so I would like to include and/or quote the valuable comments of Bhante @sujato.
My respect for the Venerable doesn’t allow me to translate his comments without giving attribution, however I also understand that in doing so most of the comments would sound like: “Bhikkhu Sujato says …”, “Bhikkhu Sujato notes …”, “Bhikkhu Sujato comments …” etc. which would maybe be a bit too much, but would also be ok if that’s what it needs to be like.
It might be good to look at the notes and try and build your own contributions where possible, however small. Investigate hanging threads or look into new perspectives on the issue that interest you or seem relevant. Then you can attribute Bhante Sujato in the general introduction or bibliography for the notes, and cite him directly where needed. Just an idea.
That way, you also get to build on the knowledge of these texts! And it’s always good to have different people looking at the same issues.
If I am not mistaken, Ayya @sabbamitta has incorporated Venerable Sujato’s comments into their German translations, but I think they are in English, as is. Maybe they can give you pointers on it.
I have translated some of them so far, see for example in DN1:1.1.1:
