Sometimes we want to reply to several people in a thread. Instead of creating separate posts to reply to all of them, please just quote them in a single post.
Simply place your cursor in the post editor where you want to quote them, then scroll back up to the post you want to quote. There will be a popup after you select the text. Then click “Quote” and that selected text will be quoted in your new post.
Alternatively, you can mention the person by typing the @ symbol followed by their username. Please don’t overuse this “mention” feature.
When are people notified?
Assuming they have notifications enabled…
- When you reply in a thread they created (if they still have it marked as “Watching”)
- When you click reply to a specific message
- When you quote someone
- When you mention them using their user name
- When they are “Watching” a thread you post in
- When they are “Watching” a category that has a thread you post in
