Horrific and very, very sad. Theyâve gone completely insane. Havenât these soldiers ever heard of karma?
I recall reading at some point in the 90âs that, I think it was Than Shwe who acknowledged that the excesses of the SLORC would certainly lead to demonic rebirth for himself and the other junta leaders, apparently they accepted this as a reality and simply didnât care, and they were so very brutal.
Perhaps their Buddhist beliefs in this case released them from any ordinary fetters concerning mercy, shame and the good of others, and so they felt free to release these demonic forces on their own peoples, Buddhists and Muslims alike. It appears the demons are still running amok in Burma today which I agree is horrific and so very sad.
Itâs just too heartbreaking, I canât even begin to imagine what these women have gone through.
I guess that the world has too much individuals of the first type, stone cold murderapes âŚ

"Monks, there are these three types of individuals to be found existing in the world. Which three? An individual like an inscription in rock, an individual like an inscription in soil, and an individual like an inscription in water.
"And how is an individual like an inscription in rock? There is the case where a certain individual is often angered, and his anger stays with him a long time. Just as an inscription in rock is not quickly effaced by wind or water and lasts a long time, in the same way a certain individual is often angered, and his anger stays with him a long time. This is called an individual like an inscription in rock.
"And how is an individual like an inscription in soil? There is the case where a certain individual is often angered, but his anger doesnât stay with him a long time. Just as an inscription in soil is quickly effaced by wind or water and doesnât last a long time, in the same way a certain individual is often angered, but his anger doesnât stay with him a long time. This is called an individual like an inscription in soil.
"And how is an individual like an inscription in water? There is the case where a certain individual â when spoken to roughly, spoken to harshly, spoken to in an unpleasing way â is nevertheless congenial, companionable, & courteous. Just as an inscription in water immediately disappears and doesnât last a long time, in the same way a certain individual â when spoken to roughly, spoken to harshly, spoken to in an unpleasing way â is nevertheless congenial, companionable, & courteous. This is called an individual like an inscription in water.

These stories are like something out of a movie. At first, I didnât want to believe it. I only believe it now because Doctors Without Borders is treating the victims.
One more thing Iâd like to say is that I am not singling out Burma, and Iâm sorry if Iâve given that impression. To this day, Japan officially refuses to apologize for the Rape of Nanjing (and in some cases, refuses to admit it even took place), and I happen to practice a Japanese form of Buddhism.
