Religion Quiz: Share Your Results

I sort of agree with you, though I wouldn’t use the same terms.

I didn’t get beyond the first question.

The wording of the question and the actual design of the page made it impossible to proceed for me.

It reminds me of an old geocities webpage. It’s also a bad quiz, in general, and has been around a long time. I remember taking a version of it back in 2000 or so.

At the same time, though, it was interesting to see the sorts of preconceptions and framings of “religion” and the “religious” itself, as well as the framings of overt references of perceived ‘doctrinal’ points, be them questions about God, reincarnation, etc., since many of the questions seemed designed to obviously refer to a particular religion or religious group, if one only takes into account a very basic surface-level exposure to it.

Yes, I used to know the late Bhante Suhita Dharma, the first African American bhikṣu. He received his bhikṣu ordination the same week he resigned from the Trappist order in which he’d been ordained for over twenty years.

Huh. Rebirth is still a bit of a sticking point for me, so I answered somewhat noncommittally to those questions.

I was raised with no religion.

Interesting to note how focused the quiz is on beliefs and belief systems, rather than practices and goals.

That depends on which questions you are looking at. Also, religions tend to emphasize practices like charity and not committing adultery, while having very different doctrinal beliefs.

I wish to understand the meaning of secular Buddhist.
Pretend that you are a secular Buddhist and answer the quiz and provide the result.
The way I understand a secular Buddhist is an atheist with the wholsome mental state.

I’m not a secular Buddhist myself, but this site might be of interest: http://secularbuddhism.org/2012/07/09/what-is-a-secular-buddhist-and-what-do-they-believe/

Don’t use this quiz for that.

Really weird, I think I’m 100% Buddhist but the test diagrees.

The results depend on how you answer the questions. Certain questions may not have a clear meaning.

Yes, of course, but my teachers background is Theravada, even though all the smart monks don’t call themselves Theravada, they just say they are ‘Buddhist monks’. So I was sort of hoping for 100% Theravada.

In terms of their basic teachings, Mahayana and Theravada have more similarities than differences:
