I’ve been reading around in Rethinking Satipaṭṭhāna: From Investigating Dhamma to Dwelling in Jhāna by Bhikkhu Cintita. Its reframes satipaṭṭhāna practice with a strong emphasis on samādhi and jhāna as essential to vipassanā. Not separate
Ven. Cintita argues that satipaṭṭhāna is a method for developing and internalizing right view, especially through the maturation of discernment in deep samādhi. One line that struck me was the idea that we become “virtuosos of virtue” and “wizards of wisdom”!
This has left me wondering, Has anyone else here worked through this book? How does this approach land for you—especially the idea that jhāna and vipassanā aren’t distinct but interwoven?
• Do others here wrestle with how samādhi and insight fit together in actual practice?
I’m mostly here to learn and hear how others are navigating questions. Thank you in advance for your reflections.
