Self vs Individual

Sorry for any confusion. I don’t mean “non-dual” in the advaita sense. I meant “not substance dualism.” Like Cartesian dualism. I definitely agree early Buddhism is not non-dual in the sense of all being a oneness. :slight_smile: (Not saying its a substance monism either; both are rejected)

Perhaps not phenomenological dualism either. Bracketing the objective to investigate the subjective and postulating it as real ground, i.e transcendental phenomenology. Not sure this has been resolved even in Merleau Ponty. But those are struggles I have with my cohort investigated elsewhere. Chao.

The Buddha states each of the sense spheres (the world) is empty of self or of anything belonging to self; but he also considers individuals possess personal characteristic dhātus.
