Thanks for letting me know what I can improve! This is a thread for my translations, essays, and notes. In the past we had all the issues in one thread, but it got unwieldy. So if you have suggestions for another translator, put it in a thread for them, or make one if it doesn’t exist. Corrections for the site UI, or for older legacy translations, or anything else, can go in this thread. If it’s a bug with the operation of the site, best open a new thread, as that is a more specializ…

And if it’s an issue with another translator, you can use a dedicated thread for them.

If you’re not sure, don’t worry, just pop it in and we’ll sort it out.

The root text and Bilara translations to AN 1.258-267 and AN 1.378-393 are blank. When the html to them got updated a lot of the quotation marks before the commas got removed.

In the “edition” preface to the Vinaya on SuttaCentral, clicking on the note links doesn’t take one to the notes, but to the top of the page instead. The same happens when clicking on the back links at the bottom.

I’ve checked this. The links are well-formed in the file, and the plain HTML works properly. @HongDa can you look at this? It looks like there’s some bug at the application level that’s stopping these from working properly online.

Beaver actually reported this before in the bug reports thread and at the time I couldn’t reproduce it:

On the Editions page all of the table of contents don’t work when I click on them.

On the Vinaya Editions page there are also footnotes that don’t work. When I click on the note button it takes me to the beginning of the text instead of the note

I couldn’t reproduce these 3; they work correctly for me

I re-tested this on a few browsers (previously, I think I only tested Chrome):

• Works fine on Chrome for Android and macOS
• Fails on Firefox for Android and macOS
• EDIT: Fails on Safari for macOS (with the same behavior as Firefox)

So there’s some browser compat issue going on there apparently. Which might explain this:

I’ve checked this. The links are well-formed in the file, and the plain HTML works properly.

I can also confirm that the anchors appear to be correctly formed in the files and in the rendered HTML too.

EDIT2: I stared at it, played around with the HTML in various browsers, and searched for a while and could not figure out why they’re not working on Editions pages in Firefox and Safari.
But the answer must be in the diff between an Edition page and a plain web translation page, since segment anchors work fine on all browsers. Some subtle semantic difference likely matters to Firefox and Safari in some not very well documented (or undocumented) way – a particularly tedious one to debug

When trying to download the “Editions” epub file of the Long Discourses / Digha Nikaya, I got a “404: Not Found” error.

Hi,
I have been trying to find a sutta Dasadhammasutta (Discourse on the Ten Dhammas) in the Anguttara Nikaya. According to the Sri Lankan Book of Protection (Catubhanavara or Pirit Potha) it is from the Anguttara Nikaya (A V87)

See Contents, and that discourse in Pali (on p. 20 of that book PDF) and then in English ( on p. 76-77 of that PDF). The English translation gives a reference to the source (A 5 87 in the Notes at the end of this book ).
I interpreted it as Anguttara Nikaya, the Book of the Fives, Discourse no. 87. But it is not found in the AN on Sutta Central. Actually, even if i search in the whole Basket of Discourses, it doesn’t find it.

Can you please check and let me know where is it actually in the Basket of Discourses. Thank you.

I might be wrong but I think it’s AN volume 5 page 87 in the PTS edition. You can search for volpage:A V 87 on SuttaCentral for those kinds of references. I got AN 10.47 as a result, but the beginning of AN 10.48 is also part of page 87. I think AN 10.48 is the one you’re looking for since the variant title listed on SC is dasadhammasuttaṁ.

this sutta goes by two names dasadhammasutta and Pabbajitaabhiṇhasutta AN10.48

We are working on covering these double up names to be better supported in search. In the meantime, you can always try https://name.readingfaithfully.org – which found this sutta under dassadhammasutta

The wanderer Vacchagotta asks the Buddha why the various speculative views come to be. The Buddha replies that it is because of not differntiating the five aggregates.

There is a mistake in the blurb for SN 22.90

Hearing that the Buddha, while on his deathbed, had announced a special punishment for him, Venerable Channa asks for teachings from the mendicants. Unsatisfied, he seeks out Ānanda, who teaches him the address to Kaccāyana (SN 12.15).

It’s supposed to be Kaccānagotta.

Update: Having just looked at the notes and variants in SN 12.15, I think Kaccānagotta and Kaccāyana may be the same person. Please ignore this message.
