Yes, Bhante. I would be honoured. Wow! ![]()
Do you currently have permission to edit the Github files? If not, the process is:
- Make a Github account (if you donât have one already)
- Someone on the SuttaCentral team will give you permissions.
- For a small fix like this, you can edit the file directly on Github in your browser.
Normally we donât correct the legacy texts, but in this case we should, because the mistake is the opposite of the intended meaning (rather than just a random typo), and the correct text is in the published version.
Thank you so much for the instructions, Bhante. ![]()
I will sign up for Github account now.
Thank you for helping us, Bhante Sujato and Miss Sumana. My deepest gratitude to you all.
There is a typo in the blurb for SN 47.10
When Änanda visits the nunsâs quarters they tell him that their meditation is prospering to higher and higher levels. Änanda reporrts the good news to the Buddha, who speaks of two ways of developing the four kinds of mindfulness meditation: directed and undirected.
At SuttaCentral , the text reads: âthese four blessing accrueâ. I checked a printed copy of Bhante Buddharakkhitaâs trans. (Pocket BPS edition, 2007), p. 49, and it makes âblessingâ plural: âblessings,â which, of course, is grammatically correct. I also see that the source page on Access to Insight, at Sahassavagga: The Thousands , contains this same error, so you correctly copied their error. (In the old days, Iâdâve mention this to John Bullitt, but with BCBSâs generous stewardship of ATI, I donât see a mechanism for reporting such.) I realize the priority for this is in the negative numbers. Just thought Iâd mention it. Thanks for all you do ![]()
hehe, that was posted in another thread yesterday
Thanks, Iâve fixed this now.
Iâve fixed it, and thanks for checking the source for us.
Fixed.
In the SuttaCentral Dictionary results showing the definitions for âsoášaâ, there is a typo. Itâs within the second paragraph of entry 1 of the Dictionary of Pali Proper Names. It reads, âSoáša asked for the relaxation of sive points of Vinaya for those living in border regionsâ. I think it should be âfive pointsâ not âsive pointsâ.
Also, further down the page, and within entry 4 of Dictionary of Pali Proper Names for âsoášaâ, there is an unnecessary full stop within the phrase âwith the. Buddhaâ. The extra full stop is there after the word âtheâ.
This is trivial. SN 25.9 covers six elements including the consciousness element, whereas its blurb only mentions four physical elements.
One with faith in the teachings on the four physical elements is called a âfollower by faithââŚ
Same goes to SN 26.9
A typo in the blurb for SN 24.36
The view that a realized one neither still exists nor no longer exists after death arises from grasping to the five aggregates, which are suffering. But by seeing the aggregates as impermanent, this views is given up.
view instead of views.
There is a mistake in the blurb for SN 52.5
SÄriputta and MoggallÄna ask Anuruddha what an adept mendicant should practice. He replies that it is the four kinds of mindfulness meditation.
Mogallana is absent in this sutta.
Ayya @sabbamitta, German translation has the same issue.

The blurb for SN 48.34 doesnât describe the sutta correctly, probably a copy-and-paste
A true ascetic understands the five faculties of pleasure, pain, happiness, sadness, and equanimity in terms of the four noble truths.
While thatâs true for the next sutta, this sutta discusses the faculties in terms of their origin, disappearance, gratification, drawback, and escape.

The note at SN 22.15:1.5 still refers to itself.
