Share the love 🌞, tell Bhante Sujato everything about his mistakes, typos, and moments of forgetfulness and regret

Thanks for letting me know what I can improve!

This is a thread for my translations, essays, and notes. In the past we had all the issues in one thread, but it got unwieldy. So if you have suggestions for another translator, put it in a thread for them, or make one if it doesn’t exist.

Corrections for the site UI, or for older legacy translations, or anything else, can go in this thread.

If it’s a bug with the operation of the site, best open a new thread, as that is a more specialized area.

But don’t worry, if you’re not sure, just pop it here and we’ll sort it out.

This continues on from:

If I omitted anything from there, let me know. Also if you’re not sure how to report a bug, check out the contributions on there, especially from Sabbamitta and Beaver, which are good examples. But again, don’t worry, just tell me, then we can both be happy!

Okay. I hope this is now the correct thread for this one:

In the “edition” preface to the DN, I find this:

The singer Dave McComb wrote about things that had happened to me: “he swam out to the edge of the reef, there were cuts along his skin.”

Start “He swam …” with a capital.

“Edition” preface to the SN:

I found that I could no longer believe in Theravada as the one true, source of Buddhism

No comma after “true”. (Perhaps another adjective has been removed here, and the comma remained.)

Instead of letting you know, I just took the liberty of adding Bhante to the heading. It just feels right to me!

Ven. Sabbamitta agrees! When your fans are in unison, you are not allowed to revert to the original. :smiling_face_with_horns:

SN 35.28 Burning

Second note text: should be “set on fire” instead of “set of fire”

Thanks everyone, I’ve added these.

Ven @Brahmali I’ll be discussing with Hongda in an hour or so, and we’ll be generating the files for the printing later today, all going well. So, I know you have Asalha Puja and all that, but any final corrections, do let me know, or update them on Bilara if you can.

I am making a few changes right now. Hopefully I will be finished by the ned of the day. Would that suffice?

Sure, that’s fine. Just pop in here and let me know when you’re done. @HongDa can you check this thread? When Ven Brahmali’s done, we can update the site and regenerate all the files for publication.

aaargh

I feel like I’m congenitally unsuited to this kind of work, but here I am.

Done! Please do update all the files, etc. And thanks for all the good work, Hong Da!

Hang on, so do you still need to edit the Matter files (intro, etc.)?

We do, but I would suggest we leave that for the next print run. I don’t want to put pressure on my dedicated helper, Ven. Nadi.

Ok, no worries. As I mentioned, my Intros will also need some work. Hopefully our readers will forgive us.

Nonetheless, do let me know when you’ve done that and we’ll update everything.

Oh, and I feel like I should know this, but who’s Ven Nadi?

Oh, also I’ll delete the files I posted earlier. If you’re not starting right away, I’ll take the chance to fix the bug posted by Sabbamitta regarding malformed links. I’ll repost then, shouldn’t take long.

Ven. @Nadi is now a samaneri at Dhammasara, but used to be Tracy Lau. She has been a great and persistent help for a long time!

No problems at all!

Ahh okay. Well, say hi!

Actually never mind, the fault is not in the files, so you can go ahead and use those same ones.

The quotation marks in the note for SN 47.29:4.1 are a little off. Also, “strictly” is misspelled.

FYI, since you’ve extended the deadline to Tuesday, we will try to edit the non-bilara files too.
