SN 35.28 pali: The famous 3rd sutta fire sermon, missing ear and nose and body

I guess it’s not an error, just a very non intuitive way of eliding text for the 6 senses.

This being such an important sutta, I think it should be presented with no ellision.

I made this version from a chanting book, probably based off BJT, looks slightly different than CST4

Evaṁ me sutaṁ:
Ekaṁ samayaṁ Bhagavā
Gayāyaṁ viharati
Gayā-sīse saddhiṁ bhikkhu-sahassena.
Tatra kho Bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi –

“Sabbaṁ, bhikkhave, ādittaṁ.
Kiñca, bhikkhave, sabbaṁ ādittaṁ?

(1. eye burning)

Cakkhu, bhikkhave, ādittaṁ,
rūpā ādittā,
cakkhu-viññāṇaṁ ādittaṁ,
cakkhu-samphasso āditto.
Yam’p’idaṁ cakkhu-samphassa-paccayā
uppajjati vedayitaṁ
sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā
a-dukkham-asukhaṁ vā
tam’pi ādittaṁ.
Kena ādittaṁ?
‘Ādittaṁ rāg-agginā, dos-agginā, moh-agginā,
ādittaṁ jātiyā jarā-maraṇena
sokehi paridevehi dukkhehi domanassehi

Nibbindaṁ vi-rajjati;
vi-rāgā vimuccati;
vimuttasmiṁ

ñāṇaṁ hoti.

‘Khīṇā jāti,
vusitaṁ brahma-cariyaṁ,
kataṁ karaṇīyaṁ,
nāparaṁ itthattāyā’ti
pajānātī”ti.

Idam·avoca Bhagavā.
Attamanā te bhikkhū
Bhagavato bhāsitaṁ abhi-nanduṁ.
Imasmiñca pana veyyākaraṇasmiṁ bhaññamāne
tassa bhikkhu-sahassassa
an-upādāya āsavehi cittāni vimucciṁsū’ti.
