Sutta quotes: how do you know you are going in the right direction?

Dear everybody,

here is a passage from “Simply this moment” by Ajahn Brahm.

“When it’s peaceful and beautiful you know that is wisdom. It’s wisdom that leads to things like upasama, calmness and tranquillity. The Buddha told Upali and Mahapajapati Gotami, that if something leads to upasama, then that is the Dhamma”.

I would be grateful to know what sutta he is referring to.

Thank you for your kind help.:pray::pray:

“As for the qualities of which you may know, ‘These qualities lead to
utter disenchantment,
to dispassion,
to cessation,
to calm,
to direct knowledge,
to self-awakening,
to Unbinding’: You may categorically hold, ‘This is the Dhamma, this is the Vinaya, this is the Teacher’s instruction.’”
–AN7.83

“As for the qualities of which you may know, ‘These qualities lead to
dispassion, not to passion;
to being unfettered, not to being fettered;
to shedding, not to accumulating;
to modesty, not to self-aggrandizement;
to contentment, not to discontent;
to seclusion, not to entanglement;
to aroused persistence, not to laziness;
to being unburdensome, not to being burdensome’: You may categorically hold, ‘This is the Dhamma, this is the Vinaya, this is the Teacher’s instruction.’”
–AN8.53

Here’s another one:

“In this way, householder, you have answered yourself: ‘Those who teach a Dhamma for the abandoning of passion, for the abandoning of aversion, for the abandoning of delusion — their Dhamma is well-taught (suvakkato). Those who have practiced for the abandoning of passion, for the abandoning of aversion, for the abandoning of delusion — they have practiced well (supatipanno) in this world. Those whose passion… aversion… delusion is abandoned, its root destroyed, made like a palmyra stump, deprived of the conditions of development, not destined for future arising: they, in this world, are well-gone (sukatā).’” AN3.72
