Why is this Japanese sculptor is putting Buddha statues on drones?
In Kyoto, Yozan Miura says he is using today’s technology to achieve the same goal as artists from centuries past: to bring Buddhist teachings to life.
Sounds like a B movie from the 70s “Attack of the flying Buddhas”.
I used to do some volunteer activism. I always preferred information to displays ( I was in the minority ). I got interested in Buddhism after visiting the Sackler Gallery in Washington D.C… On the placard for a Buddha statue the Four Noble Truths were printed. It seemed down to Earth to me and different from other religions. Based on life observations versus some mythology about paranormal beings. That is how I was sold, 4 simple lines, no flying Buddhas.
I found the interview with the sculptor really interesting. This project has a lot more heart than I had imagined when I read the reference to drones. Thanks for sharing.
