Like you get that it is ONE society/culture that produces the conditions for BOTH the veda and the pali materials right?
And that society was the sensual, violent, erotic, communal society we read about in the Vedas AND the society in which the wanderers wandered accepting the food offerings of the violent sensual lying singing dancing villagers?
And when you actually look for a conflict, like in the deployment of a term like sumedh, you see there isn’t one at all, BOTH the Veda and the Wanderers say that the crucial think for one to be worthy of sacrifice is a pure mind.
The communal priest performs a sacrifice and it is alleged to be beneficial in as much as it is done with a pure mind.
The wanderer accepts a “sacrifice” and it is alleged to be beneficial in as much as it is offered to one of pure mind.
This is the SAME SOCIETY saying the same thing.
