The Seriousness of Self-development

Before I rediscovered Buddhism, I spent a lot of time reading Western self-development books. After some understanding of Buddha’s teaching now I think I wasted many good years reading those books. I read my first self-development book when I was 14 years old. I remember for some reason I did not believe that book and I started practicing the opposite even though that book makes so much influence on me in later life I enrolled for that course.
The most important thing now I know is that there is no self to be developed.
