Is there an easy way to identify who the translator is for various suttas on SC? I think it would be helpful as I think you do start to get a feel for which translations speak to you, and which are more trustworthy.

You can find all information about a sutta in de sidebar meta-area.
When you are on the sutta-page, click on the hamburger-icon in the top left corner and click on Metadata. It looks like this:
When you are in the overview page of the respective (sub)division like here: SuttaCentral, in the column on the right there is a dropdown box with the various translations available for that sutta. If you hover with the mouse over the language, it will tell you who the translator is.
