Tribute to Riverbend

… I’ll meet you 'round the bend my friend, where hearts can heal and souls can mend…

Nobody knows who she is, or where, or if she is still alive.

Since 2003 I have been following the blog of a woman Iraqi IT specialist, who saw her life being changed by wars and discrimination. Under Saddam her life had not been bad. She had a good education and a good job. That all changed after the new regime took over and women were no longer allowed to work and more restrictions followed.
She started the blog as some form of protest and later fled to Syria. After 2007, she only posted once more in 2013. That was the last time.

Her blog reads like a novel, a diary of what happened to her, living in Baghdad in the years 2003-2007.
Start at the first post, of 17th August 2003 and read through the archives in order.

rather was installed

The “new regime” was installed by the USA, British & Australian governments, who, with other allies, also want to install a new regime in Syria & are therefore supporting violence in Syria.
