[/quote]I hope you don’t mind me answering a question with another question, but can you possibly clarify what you meant?

I am not sure what you mean by 12 instances.
Please refer to the dictionary for clarification of terms.

I am not sure about the 12, but I think in the suttas ‘nana’ is retrospective knowledge, instead of direct knowing.

Here are the dictionary entries for both terms:

Hope it helps.

~~
This is the dukkha ariyasacca’: in me, bhikkhus, in regard to things unheard before, the cakkhu arose, the ñāṇa arose, the paññā arose, the vijjā arose, the aloko arose.
‘Now, this dukkha ariyasacca is to be completely known’: in me, bhikkhus, in regard to things unheard before,
the cakkhu arose, the ñāṇa arose, the paññā arose, the vijjā arose, the aloko arose.
‘Now, this dukkha ariyasacca has been completely known’: in me, bhikkhus, in regard to things unheard before,
the cakkhu arose, the ñāṇa arose, the paññā arose, the vijjā arose, the aloko arose. ~~

Above with regards to dukkha,
the eye etc repeated 3 times

(cakkhu nana panna vijja aloko)

samudaya x 3
nirodhaa x 3
Patipada x 3

So, total number is 12 times .

(cakkhu nana upasama
abhinna sambodha nibbana)

What then difference of nana,
panna, vijja , abhinna , aloko ?

Oh I see.
I ask this question here before. I did not receive any answers.
I am still waiting.
