I think there is a sutta where the Buddha gave a discourse and then turned to Ven Sariputta and asked if he believed what he said and Ven Sariputta said something like ‘not yet’.
sn48.44?
It’s in the CIPS under “faith” > “not needed when truth is known” as well as “Sāriputta, Ven.” > “not going on faith”
Thank you very much
In a MN discouses he replied to the Buddha he knew and saw for himself, so he believed, not because he heard and believed through what the buddha said. Other monks said same in other suttas, like Anudhrudha, Ananda. (Let me open my laptop and tell you which sutta number). (I translated every words and every suttas in MN, SN, AN and all commentaries, I may not remember all, but which fact or statement was not said or stated in suttas bu the Buddha or great disciples, I know for sure.).
