Where is the Sinhala alphabet in this children's song?

So every now and then I like to dabble in new languages, and I found a wonderful Sinhala resource, but, for information on how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet, they link to this song, which I assume is an alphabet song for children:

The problem for me is that the song goes by so fast I can’t figure out what is going on.

Haha!
Same happens in Thai:

Mind that these are targeted at children which already can speak their mother tongue and are then just mapping words to specific characters.

You need to take a few steps back and look for something like Rosetta Stone software to get where they are in terms of basic handling of spoken language to absorb the written language from these resources.

My favourite element is the discreet smiley army man in the background.

No alphabet here. It’s more like a commercial for this particular childrend’s book.

Omg. No wonder I couldn’t figure it out.

Let’s either compile good Sinhala resourses for language-learning or close the thread.

I can’t believe how long I listened to that song trying to hear the alphabet.

So, I don’t know how useful this will be, but it’s super cute.

Starts at the alphabet. They are saying the sounds of each letter. The names of the letters are the sound+“yana”
a-yanna
ā-yanna
i-yanna
ī-yanna
etc.

I don’t know if the song they sing is an “official” alphabet song like there is in English. Perhaps @SarathW1 or @Mat could help us out.

Try this. This series is pretty comprehensive.

These are fun songs. :grinning:

But what other sorts of resources that are not children’s songs do you think we can find?

I originally posted the OP thinking the song from the Webpage was some kind of very complex alphabet song :upside_down_face: of course it’s obvious to me now in hindsight why it seemed such an odd tune for an alphabet song: it just wasn’t one.

But I am interested in what Sinhala-language learning resources people know of.

This one comes at a cost but might be a good therefore Learn Sinhala Online - Level 1 - Cudoo - When you learn, the world learns.

Yes it is the correct official alphabet.

So, I wasn’t talking about the alphabet being the official one, but rather the song. In North America (and I assume England etc) if you ask any child to sing “the alphabet song” They will sing this:

My question was if there is a single song that is known as THE alphabet song in Sinhala.

No.
We do not have one unfortunately.
As children we did a hard Yaka.
