So every now and then I like to dabble in new languages, and I found a wonderful Sinhala resource, but, for information on how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet, they link to this song, which I assume is an alphabet song for children:
The problem for me is that the song goes by so fast I can’t figure out what is going on.
Mind that these are targeted at children which already can speak their mother tongue and are then just mapping words to specific characters.
You need to take a few steps back and look for something like Rosetta Stone software to get where they are in terms of basic handling of spoken language to absorb the written language from these resources.
But what other sorts of resources that are not children’s songs do you think we can find?
I originally posted the OP thinking the song from the Webpage was some kind of very complex alphabet song of course it’s obvious to me now in hindsight why it seemed such an odd tune for an alphabet song: it just wasn’t one.
But I am interested in what Sinhala-language learning resources people know of.
So, I wasn’t talking about the alphabet being the official one, but rather the song. In North America (and I assume England etc) if you ask any child to sing “the alphabet song” They will sing this:
My question was if there is a single song that is known as THE alphabet song in Sinhala.
